In this course you will build on skills and knowledge about using hand tools, portable power tools and creating basic woodworking joints to include first fixing and second fixing. You will learn how to set up structural carcassing, how to use and maintain a circular saw and carry out maintenance work.
We offer full-time courses for school leavers including A Levels and vocational qualifications, full-time Access to Higher Education courses, part-time adult professional development, entry level and recreational courses as well as full and part-time degree level study.
During your 30 day experience you will have access to our secondary studio where we can help you see any of your creative projects through to fruition. Our secondary studio has a private working bench and shelves above it. Tools and materials subject to bespoke requirements
This course offers an excellent introduction to woodworking techniques, starting from the basics and progressing towards constructing your own woodwork projects.
This course introduces you to the carpentry and joinery work environment within the construction industry. You will learn how to use hand tools as well as portable power tools as you master the art of creating woodworking joints, frames, doors and windows.
With a focus on NHBC Standards chapters 6.4 and 7.2, delegates will finish this course with a greater appreciation of the quality NHBC Inspectors expect to see on site.
This course is more physically demanding than carving a spoon, so would serve as a natural progression for those who have done some carving before. However keen first timers are always welcome!
