New Violin Or Cello Students Learn How To Hold The Instrument And How To Get A Good Sound Out Of It
String instruments are an excellent first instrument for young musicians because they train the ear to be extremely sensitive to pitch. Violin and cello are great instruments to study for patient young beginners, from as early as age four.
New violin or cello students learn how to hold the instrument and how to get a good sound out of it. This involves learning proper bowing technique and tone production. They also learn basic music theory (reading notes and rhythm).
Students are introduced to Classical music, fiddle repertoire and popular music. Students may go on to do Royal Conservatory examinations, participate in Ottawa music festivals, and even play in orchestras!
String instruments can be purchased or rented at many fine instrument stores in the city. Your teacher will recommend an instrument size for you and let you know where they like to shop!
Our Story:
The Manotick School of Music (MSM) opened its doors in 1991 and continues to provide musical instruction to students of all ages and skill levels in the Manotick area. In 2014, the ownership of the school changed hands and MSM students were combined with those of Musical Thought Studios, also located nearby in Manotick.
Today the strengths and talents of both schools operate as Manotick School of Music under the direction of Lisa Bing, founder of Musical Thought.
Our Philosophy:
Our goal at Manotick School of Music is to not only provide high quality music lessons, but to instill the artistic habit in all of our students and their families. Sure, taking music lessons can improve reading and math skills, concentration, self-esteem, and school grades…but there are also more personal reasons for studying music.
Time and again, music has been identified as a universal language because of its ability to speak directly to us without using words. The artistic habit is making room in our lives for these conversations.
Our teachers are all experienced, qualified, dedicated music instructors and professional musicians, each of them passionate about their art and eager to instill in their students a love of music. So come visit us here in Manotick and learn what music can do for you!
Private lessons may be offered to children from 6 years of age. Private lessons may be offered to children younger than 6 if they have the necessary level of concentration. A demonstration lesson can be arranged to assess readiness
Your child will learn how to play from experienced music instructors who will guide them with patience and professionalism
At the Canada Music Academy, our goal is to make music lessons fun and exhilarating for our students, while still providing a structured learning approach that's necessary to achieve tangible results and help our students realize their musical dreams.
The Coopérative des professeurs de musique offer group classes for the whole family. These courses are designed to learn music in a structured way and to allow exchanges between musicians. We believe music makes a lot more sense when shared.
