Parents are invited to contribute to the governance of Saturday Music Charitable trust by serving as an appointed Trustee or as a co-opted Parent Representative. Parent Representatives must have a child enrolled in Saturday Music as a condition of acting in this role. Both roles are necessary for the continuing function of the Board.
Saturday Music Charitable Trust (Inc) is a registered charity (CC29243) and is supported by the Primary School Out-of-Hours Music Scheme of the Ministry of Education. It is administered by a Trust Board and is hosted by Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School, operating under the regulations of the Ministry of Education.
The aims of Saturday Music are to:
Lessons can start at a very young age - if children are ready, as young as three years.Â
Viola classes are offered by Christchurch School Of Music. With a shortage of viola players worldwide, this instrument should appeal to students who are interested in pursuing music more seriously.
Out of School Music classes are intended to give all primary school children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
We’re passionate about what we do and the benefits that learning to play a musical instrument provides.
Soundworks Music School has been around Palmerston North since 2007, initially led by Liz Locke, but now owned and managed since February 2021 by Rhys Davies Smith, teacher of guitar and drums.
