Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

This early childhood education course is the minimum entry requirement for working in the early childhood sector and the prerequisite qualification to study Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

The course will provide you with the opportunity to learn from experienced and supportive teachers, including work placement with children aged birth - 6 years and participation in the Box Hill Institute PlayBox Playgroup.

PlayBox playgroup is a playgroup session that is open to families within the local community and is facilitated by the Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care students under the direct supervision of an early childhood trainer and assessor.

It is an amazing opportunity to engage and interact with children and families, and provides an opportunity to not only develop skills and knowledge, but to also develop confidence in these areas to set you up for success when on placement. 

You will gain the skills and knowledge to:

• maintain a safe and hygienic environment and practices
• promote healthy eating and ensure that food and drinks provided are nutritious and appropriate for each child 
• apply strategies to guide responsible behaviour of children and young people in a safe and supportive environment
• provide children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for life long learning
• understand and comply with legislation and regulatory requirements
• promote inclusive environments and relationships respecting the diversity of children, families, colleagues and the community
• provide first aid in an education and care setting
