Studying the Certificate III in Events at Holmesglen

  • Throughout the course students will learn how to communicate event ideas, gather information, plan and organise activities, work in teams and solve problems.
  • In the first year students will develop and promote a special themed event, put an event proposal together for an 'in-house' customer and organise an end of year event.
  • The focus for the second year is to further develop skills and knowledge of the events industry by running a larger Holmesglen in-house event. This will develop skills in meeting management, team building, client liaison and coordinating events.
  • This course is a great introduction into the SIT50322 - Diploma of Event Management, where students will continue to extend the skills and knowledge they have gained to establish themselves in this industry.
  • The program is a VET delivered to secondary students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of a VCE or VPC program.

Entry Requirements

  • Learners must be currently undertaking the VCE or VCE VM curriculum in Years 10-12. It is the responsibility of the secondary school to determine learners' literacy, language, and numeracy capabilities to undertake this course. Prior to commencing the SIT30522 Certificate III in Events, the secondary school coordinator ensures that all learners possess the foundational skills necessary for success in this program.
  • These foundational skills include the ability to evaluate and integrate information and ideas from a range of familiar and some unfamiliar texts and text types. Learners must also be able to interpret information from tables, charts, and other graphic formats using a variety of sources, such as venue brochures, online booking systems, event guidelines, and trade publications.
  • For example, learners will need to create event schedules using industry templates, source and compare venue options from online platforms, complete planning tasks within designated timeframes, and effectively contribute to team discussions to address issues and refine event strategies.

  • You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
