Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
The course will be delivered over 52 weeks including holidays. Class work is delivered over a 40 week block, students are then given an additional 12 weeks to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement. Students may also complete the work placement hours during the 40 week delivery which may reduce the duration of the course.
Individual Support workers are also known as Aged or Disability Care Workers, Personal Care Worker or Personal Carer. People in these roles provide general assistance, care and emotional support for aged or disabled people in their own homes and in aged and disability residential care.

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments.
The Skills Training Australia Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) qualification is considered the minimum industry standard for working within residential aged care facilities, or for providing care within someone’s home.
The Aged Care Quality Standards are in place to ensure that consumers have quality outcomes when receiving residential or home care. This course describes the standards and the roles and responsibilities of staff to meet the ongoing requirements.
This qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans.
Certificate III In Individual Support course is offered by Fully Funded Training for all skill level.Â
