The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry. In addition, the qualification covers skills for a specialist field of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that, training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment. Therefore, this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site.

The TLILIC0024 Licence to Operate a Vehicle Loading Crane (capacity 10 metre tonne and above) is the most current nationally recognised unit of competency. The content of this unit has been updated to comply with the new WorkSafe standards.
This course is designed for those who have previously completed the initial spotters course and covers compliance with working safely up to the defined safe approach distance (SAD) near energised electrical apparatus, including electrical powerlines, for non-electrical workers.
This unit covers working safely at heights in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: identifying the work requirements, work procedures and instructions for the task; accessing and installing equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning up the work area.
To provide applicants with the practical skills and knowledge to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) (WP) in accordance with Safe Work Australia's National Standard for Licencing Persons Performing HRW.
