If you choose to work in the education system, you will be playing a crucial role in shaping the lives of our future generations.

This course will give you an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communication and professional relationships.

Course Modules

This course includes 11 modules including:

  • Understand schools and colleges as organisations

  • Understand children and young people’s development

  • Safeguarding children and young people

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion

  • Support health and safety

  • Support positive behaviour

  • Understand children and young people’s play and leisure

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, professional discussion or a task. You are required to attend school placement for the equivalent of 2 days per week.
