You will gain a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners.
You will be able to use initial and diagnostic assessments, and plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning. You will also be able to assess learning and use appropriate resources to support effective learning. Candidates need to have access to 30 hours teaching for the duration of the course.
Course Content
You will be able to provide evidence in a number of ways including:
Assignments – evidence the knowledge based assessment criteria
Practice – through a minimum of 30 hours of teaching which must be conducted in a teaching and learning environment
Observation – appropriately spaced throughout the programme.
There will a minimum of three observations linked to mandatory units:
Delivering education and training
Assessing learners in education and training
Using resources for education and training
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through assignment work, lesson observation and recorded teaching hours covering five mandatory and one optional unit:
Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (L3, 3 credits)
Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training (L4, 3 credits)
Delivering education and training (L4, 6 credits)
Assessing learners in education and training (L4, 3 credits)
Using resources for education and training (L4, 3 credits)
Inclusive practice (L4, 15 credits).
You will also build a portfolio of evidence which:
enables each unit to be assessed independently
shows that you have taken part in a minimum of 30 hours of practice, three house of observed and assessed practice which meets the required standard of practice.

Achieving the Level 3 Award in Education and Training will provide sufficient evidence that the learner has obtained the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.
On this course, you'll develop your skills in teaching five- to eleven-year-olds across all the subjects of the National Curriculum at key stages 1 and 2 to professional standards. You'll engage with and use a range of evidence-informed strategies for effective and engaging teaching and learning.
