Secondly, the cost of application and exams
To begin, you apply and pay a fee to your appropriate state or board of accountancy jurisdiction, which will determine your eligibility to sit for the exam.Applying for state registration and paying the registration fee sometimes reaches $150 and the certificate evaluation is about $35.
Once you have been deemed eligible, you will receive a Notice to Schedule (NTS), which is required before you can schedule an exam date.
When your certificate is evaluated and the conditions are met in terms of the number of hours and the accredited bachelor’s degree, the value of the tests applied for is paid.
The cost of the test ranges from $150 to $200 per subject (i.e. a maximum of $800 for four subjects), and then the dates of the tests are determined.
You then have a six-month window (except in specified states) during which you must schedule your first exam (prometric.com/CPA or 1-800-580-9648). Exceptions to the six-month window include: Texas (90 days); California, Louisiana, and Utah (9 months); and North and South Dakota, and Virginia (12 months)
