Chemical Safety

This short course will provide participants with a knowledge of hazardous substances, including chemical hazards, and their control in the workplace.

The aim is to provide the skills and technical knowledge in handling hazardous substances in the workplace and all staff including managers and supervisors should attend. A two hour duration course depending on participants training requirements.

Participants will be able to:

• Understand the legislation applicable to the use of Hazardous substances
• Identify hazardous substances in the workplace and understand the range of hazards associated with them
• Conduct risk assessments
• Implement risk control strategies as required under state legislation
• Know where to find information and resources on the safe use, handling , transportation, storage and disposal of chemicals they use
• Understand the content of Materiel Safety Data Sheets
