Prerequisites

The participants are expected to have a reasonably advanced knowledge of cements and concrete technology. Graduate students shall have previously taken CIV514: Concrete Technology or a pre-approved equivalent from another university.

Contact Hours

Approximately 27 contact hours during the course period. Lectures and any exercises will be given during morning and afternoon sessions, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (to noon on Friday). On Monday, registration starts at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Admission & Registration

  • Applicants should submit the registration form no later than April 7, 2025.
  • In addition:
  • graduate students at the University of Toronto must enrol on ACORN (summer course enrolment typically begins in early April)
  • graduate students at other universities must either:
    • a) apply at their home institution to take the course via a program such as OVGS (Ontario Universities) or the Canadian University Graduate Transfer Agreement (certain Canadian Universities)
    • b) pay to audit the course ($900)
      • the student audit fee should be paid no later than April 7, 2025
  • industry professionals auditing the course for professional development are required to pay fees of $2,300CDN (approx. $1,700US)
    • the industry professional audit fee should be paid no later than April 7, 2025

Course Materials

PDF copies of PowerPoint presentations will be provided (or available) for download at the beginning of the course and updated later, as necessary. Therefore, participants should bring laptops or tablets.

Evaluation And Graduate Credit

For graduate students enrolled for credit, credit will be issued based on active participation in the entire course as well as completion of a take-home examination to be provided after the course.

Industry professionals will be provided a letter of attendance, if requested.This course series is sponsored by RILEM and all registered graduate students will receive a three-year free membership in RILEM.
