Course Details

Our Chief Warden course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to prepare, lead and coordinate the facilities emergency response. Individuals may also act as the primary liaison with emergency services upon their arrival.

Throughout this training you will learn your responsibilities as a chief warden, deputy warden or communications officer and your part in the emergency control organisation (ECO).

The training also covers the requirements of Australian Standard AS3745(2010) & AS4083(2010). All Aspects of this training is undertaken with legislative requirements, industry practices and organisational policies and procedures. This unit applies to employees of all industries. This unit contains employability skills.

 

Course Overview:
The course will cover but is not limited to the following:
1. Prepare for emergencies Pre-emergency planning

  • Identifying emergency situations and further developments and assess against facilities emergency response plan
  • Conduct regular emergency planning committee meetings, training and exercises for the facility.
  • Update emergency response procedures and systems as required

2. Appropriate actions during the emergency

  • Initiate or identify emergency signals and warnings
  • Assess and monitor the emergency and initiate plan of action in line with facilities procedures
  • Ensure wardens attend and operate emergency stations
  • Monitor and record the progress of evacuation & control entry to affected areas then report these to emergency services
  • Effectively communicate directions and decisions with others

3. Concluding the emergency

  • When safe return control to building owner and advise ECO embers to return occupants to facility
  • Check and restore emergency systems
  • Coordinate reports and results of initial emergency response
