Course Overveiw
This course applies to those required to make decisions about people’s safety during a workplace emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency incident in the area.
This course includes leading the preparation of emergency response procedures; commanding, controlling and coordinating facility emergency response procedures and responses and concluding the facility emergency incident.
Individuals who undertake this work may also act as the primary liaison with emergency services after their arrival.
Learning Outcomes
The course covers the following:
• Prepare for workplace emergencies
• Apply command, control and coordinate aspects of workplace emergency procedures
• Control the response to emergency reports, signals and warning
• Coordinate reports and results of initial emergency response
• Debrief incident and report as per regulatory and workplace requirements
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
• Provide photo I.D on entry
• Unless exempt, provide a verifiable USI number
• Be physically fit and healthy with capacity to perform manual tasks
• Be able to read, write, communicate orally, and understand and interpret complex information and situations
• Be able to interact with others and work under pressure
• Dress appropriately i.e., long sleeve, long pants or overalls, safety boots/closed in shoes, safety glasses

This unit covers working safely at heights in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: identifying the work requirements, work procedures and instructions for the task; accessing and installing equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning up the work area.
This unit includes the skills and knowledge required to participate in rescue operations as a member of a rescue team, underpinning specialist rescue operations.
The Administrative Workplace Investigations Workshop is a three (3) day introductory course about Investigations. This Workshop is designed to cover the three (3) most essential phases of an investigation.
An integral part of an effective emergency management program is to have a pro-active Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) that oversees the emergency management at the site.
Successful completion of this course results in nationally a recognised Unit of Competency TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods.
