Two separate programs are offered, a junior secondary program for students aged 10-14 aligned to the Australian Curriculum and a senior secondary program for students aged 10-19. The senior program is predominantly vocational educational and training offerings delivered through BYETC's Registered Training Organisation.
Students who want to complete their maths and English studies after they have left BYETC are able to access the same courses anywhere in Queensland through Vocational Training Queensland. BYETC is a Department of Education school operating within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol. It is a multi-campus school that caters for students, both male and female from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offenses.
