Overview

Welcome to the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning, and Development (Northern Ireland)

About the Course: Embark on a rewarding journey with us as you explore the fascinating world of child development and caregiving. The Level 3 Diploma is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed when working with children 0-12yrs. However, while on the course your placement must be in a setting working with children up to the age of 5yrs 11months.

Work Settings: Immerse yourself in real-world experiences within regulated or inspected early years settings. Whether it's a registered childminding setting, playgroup, day care nursery, statutory nursery setting, foundation phase provision, or Sure Start provision – you'll be surrounded by opportunities to make a meaningful impact on young lives.

Roles You Can Pursue: Upon completion, you can step into various leadership roles, including room supervisor, childminder, nursery nurse, Sure Start room leader, or playgroup room leader. This diploma opens doors to fulfilling careers in full-day care, sessional care, childminding, and out-of-school clubs.

Programme Options: Tailor your learning experience with flexible delivery options. Choose between a part time work-based learning programme, or an apprenticeship.

The Level 3 Diploma acts as a fast track, allowing you to complete it in just one year, making you an attractive candidate for supervisory roles sought by employers in the early years sector.

Course Highlights:

  • Theoretical Knowledge: Delve into subjects such as special educational needs, safeguarding, child development, and play. Your understanding will be assessed through child observations, case studies, and assignments, ensuring you become a knowledgeable and employable practitioner.

  • Practical Competency: Showcase your skills during placements, supported by our dedicated staff team. Accumulate a minimum of 600 placement hours in early years settings, working with children up to 5 years and 11 months, to solidify your practical competency.
