Course Details

The University of Sheffield offers Chinese language at a variety of levels, so whether you wish to study a degree focusing on the language, you are interested in supplementing your degree with a language module, or are a member of the public, we have the right course for you.

Teaching in Chinese is provided by the School of East Asian Studies (SEAS), and the Sheffield Confucius Institute (SCI). There are a variety of options available to include Chinese:

 

Undergraduate Study

  • The School of East Asian Studies offers a number of undergraduate courses which can include Chinese as a language.

 

Postgraduate Study

  • The School of East Asian Studies offers a number of masters courses which can include Chinese as a language.

 

Guided Module Choice and Not-for-Credit Modules

  • If you aren't studying a language degree but would still like to experience learning Chinese at university, you can do so through Languages for All. Languages for All is a university-wide scheme for all students wishing to develop foreign language skills, either by learning a new language from scratch, or continuing to build on existing language experience. 

 

Members of the Public and University of Sheffield Staff

  • The Sheffield Confucius Institute (SCI) offers Mandarin Chinese classes outside of normal working hours. Members of the public, university staff and university students who wish to take self-funded Mandarin are all welcome. Chinese Proficiency Test and Scholarships for studying in China are offered to the SCI learners.
