Mandarin or Putonghua is the most common dialect used in China and has been adopted as a second language by those who speak other Chinese dialects. The official language of China, Mandarin is the dialect taught in Chinese schools.

It is the universal language used throughout the northern, central, and southwestern provinces of China. Mandarin is also spoken in Taiwan, where it is referred to as Chinese rather than “Putonghua.” Often, Mandarin is used in local TV and radio media.

Next to Cantonese, it is the most common Chinese language spoken in the Northwest. The Chinese newspaper, “World Journal” is distributed in the States and is published for Mandarin speaking Chinese.

when compared with the English language, including tones and characters, it is believed that learning Chinese takes more brain power! Whereas English speakers only use the left temporal lobe, speakers of Mandarin use both. Furthermore, learning to write characters can help with motor skills and visual recognition will keep the mind sharp.

Levels In Language:

Six HSK Levels:

The six levels within HSK are HSK1, HSK2, HSK3, HSK4, HSK5, and HSK6. HSK1 is the lowest level in terms of ability and HSK6 is the highest.
According to Hanban, the HSK organizer, in this system, HSK1 and HSK2 correspond to very basic Chinese skills

Then, HSK3 and HSK4 introduce more sophisticated knowledge of Chinese. Finally, HSK5 and HSK6 serve as indicators of high proficiency and fluency in Chinese.

Since language proficiency is something highly subjective, Hanban offers short descriptors for the six HSK levels and explains what you can do at each level.
