The aim of a coaching professional apprenticeship is to enable coaches to work with a range of individuals and teams and across organisations, to empower and engage them to enhance their professional performance.Coaching is a way of leading in a non-directive manner, helping people to learn through deep listening and reflective, open questions rather than instructing or giving advice.
The purpose of coaching is building the self-belief of others, regardless of the context, to be curious and self-aware, better equipping them to collaborate, innovate, deal with the increasing pace of change and get the best from, increasingly diverse environments.
Effective coaching is future focussed, releasing the potential of individuals and teams, enabling transformation and change for business improvement whilst also bringing about positive changes in leadership style and organisational culture.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of a Coaching Professional and covers:
Differences between coaching, mentoring, counselling, training and consulting
Theories relating to learning, reflective practice, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, motivation, diversity and bias
The organisational context of coaching including structure, culture and leadership
Coaching ethics and relevant legislation
Cmmunication skills
Contracting and developing rapport to build coaching relationship
Time management, stakeholder management and management of boundaries
Application of coaching models, techniques, and tools• Self-awarenessYou will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College for pre-arranged masterclasses.
Entry Requirements & Progression
What You'll Need
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.
This Could Lead to
Successful completion of this Level 5 apprenticeship opens up opportunities to a variety of coaching job roles, for example: Business Coach, Career Coach, Coaching Professional, Leadership Coach, Performance Coach, Systemic Coach, Team Coach, or Wellbeing Coach. You may also consider progression to a Level 7 coaching or leadership qualification, a degree apprenticeship, or to relevant post-graduate degree programmes.
Assessment
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme.
It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.

Fareham College
An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated college that teaches over 3,200 students each year and offers a diverse range of courses. These include T Levels, traineeships, apprenticeships, HE, and part-time and professional courses. These courses help prepare students for employment in their chosen career path or progress to university or onto an apprenticeship.

CETC
Our Civil Engineering Training Centre (CETC) is a purpose-built two-acre mock construction site close to our CEMAST training centre on the Daedalus Airfield, and is dedicated to the delivery of a specialist Civil Engineering & Groundworks Apprenticeship and also specialist training in Highways.
