Course Details

The aim of the COBIT®5 Fundamentals certification is to confirm that participants have the necessary knowledge and understanding of COBIT®5 to be able to:

  • understand corporate governance and enterprise IT management;

  • to raise awareness among their senior business and IT management;

  • to evaluate the current situation of their business IT, with the objective of establishing the scope of the aspects of COBIT®5 that will be appropriate to implement.

 

Goals

The training will provide participants with an understanding of the key principles and terminology of COBIT®5. In particular, the candidate must know and understand:

  • the main facilitators of COBIT®5 development;

  • the business benefits of using COBIT®5;

  • the product architecture of COBIT®5;

  • IT management issues and challenges that impact the business;

  • the 5 key principles of COBIT®5 on corporate IT governance and management;

  • how COBIT®5 enables IT to be governed and managed holistically across the enterprise;

  • how processes and the Process Reference Model (PRM) facilitate the creation of the 5 principles and 7 enablers of governance and management;

  • the basic concepts of implementing COBIT®5;

  • the basic concepts of the new Process Assessment Model (PAM);

  • COBIT®5 tips and how they relate to each other.This COBIT®5 Fundamentals training takes participants through the five core principles in detail, including specific guidance on enablers for enterprise IT governance and management. It also includes an additional guide giving an outline of the basic concepts of the Process Assessment Model (PAM) based on the ISO 15504 approach, which replaced the CMM (Capability Maturity Model).

 

 

Simulation And Practical Application

We provide participants with real-life experiences. For the sake of discussion and to show the value of using best practices, we can, optionally, use the client's organization as a 'case study' example (when the training is single client).

 

Prerequisites

It is strongly recommended that participants acquire the following publications as a critical factor in the success of this training:

  • COBIT®5, a business framework on the governance and management of corporate IT;

  • The Process Capability Supplementary Guide, in addition to Chapter 8 of the basic framework, consists of extracts from the Process Assessment Model (PAM) presented in COBIT® 4.1 and COBIT® 5.

Participants should also study associated curriculum topics, which reference material from these publications, before taking the training.

  • the life cycle approach:

  • the components of the life cycle and the relationships between them,

  • understanding factors internal and external to the company,

  •  the key success factors of the implementation,

  •  the seven phases of the life cycle model explained,

  •  the seven characteristics of change facilitation used in the life cycle,

  • the links of change facilitation with the continuous improvement life cycle,

  • the development of a business case.

  • the process skills assessment model;

  • the definition of a process evaluation;

  • the definition of the COBIT® Evaluation Program;

  • the differences between an aptitude assessment and a maturity assessment;

  • the differences with the COBIT® V4.1 Competency Maturity Model (CMM)

  • the differences between the PAM of COBIT® V4.1 and that of COBIT®5;

  • an overview of the COBIT® model and skills assessments;

Some important definitions of the Process Reference Model (PRM).
