Course Details

This course will introduce the role, professional qualities, and scope of practice of the Personal Support Worker; including, professional practice issues and trends, ethics, client or worker rights and applicable legislation.

The Canadian Health Care system and Intraprofessional Education (IPE) will also be examined.

This course will introduce the importance of communication and interpersonal skills essential to establishing and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships with intraprofessional health care providers and clients.

The factors affecting communication, problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, as well as, care planning will be described and practiced.
