The philosophy behind HospiceWits’s active care for the terminally ill emphasises the importance of living to the full and having a choice of the care environment, no matter how much time is left.
The Hospice Association of the Witwatersrand was started in September, 1979 by a Johannesburg couple, Stan and Sherley Henen, who first responded to a need in their community for hospice care. Initially, care was provided by a part-time nurse from their house.
You can also gain the knowledge and skills required in proper dementia care, elderly care, first aid and caring for the disabled.
SARCS provides Home Based Care training to Caregivers, Community, Nurse Aids, Family Members, and Healthcare Workers, who care for the ill and the frail at home. Candidates receive theoretical as well as practical sessions during their training.
This short course will equip you as a healthcare professional to assess and manage patients living with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses, to improve their quality of life and to support their families – thus enhancing the quality of your services and patient relationships.
