Community leadership programs identify issues of community interest, increase community networking, and increase understanding of civic responsibility. WHLI supports leaders who have a commitment to civic engagement, to learning, and to collaboration.
The West Houston Leadership Institute (WHLI) is a breakthrough community leadership program. Leaders from corporate, non-profit and community organizations apply to participate in a 10-month program to learn and dialogue about issues that affect West Houston.
In addition to a full- day Opening and Closing Retreat, participants meet monthly for a half-day to explore focus areas such as Education, Healthcare, Quality of Life and Transportation.

West Houston Leadership Institute (WHLI) was formed in 2004 when then Board Member, Chuck Wolf, of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce’s Board Development Committee saw specific leadership gaps in the organization.
It was his charge to attract corporate and community leadership to join the Board of the Chamber. Further, he was charged with succession planning for the Chamber’s future leadership.
Chuck had been a graduate of other leadership programs, including the Center for Houston’s Future, and realized that most corporate and community leaders invest in leadership training with this thought in mind,
PYD’s Young Leaders Rising (YLR) program is an 8-week youth-led leadership program for high school students with any type of disability (ages 14-22) that leverages both live virtual workshops and an online learning community to develop leadership, career readiness, and self advocacy skills.
Leadership Management workshops at The Leadership Laboratory enable leaders enhancing their styles and approaches to more effectively influence the way they lead.
