This popular 12-hour first aid course covers the requirements to administer first aid at work, as well as keeping your family safe at home. You will gain practical skills and knowledge to confidently perform first aid when an emergency or accident may occur.
It meets the new guidelines from WorkSafe New Zealand (Feb 2020) and is highly recommended for most workplaces. Throughout the course, scenarios will be incorporated into the modules to practice the skills and knowledge developed on the course. There are no prerequisite requirements for this course. You must revalidate this course every 2 years.
What this course covers:
Primary assessment.
Stable side positioning
Scene management of emergency situations.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – adult, child and infant.
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Foreign body airway obstruction (choking) – adult, child, infant.
Control of life threatening bleeding.
Bleeding, shock and wound care.
Fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations.
Medical conditions- heart attack, angina, asthma, diabetes, seizures, stroke and severe allergies.
Poisoning.
Burns – thermal, chemical and electrical.
Head and spinal injuries.
Complex medical and trauma injuries.
Environmental conditions.
