Description

This unit covers the conduct of underground lifting operations in the resources and infrastructure industries. It involves planning and preparing for underground lifting & moving loads.

This course is appropriate for those working in an assistant role at worksites within Coal mining, The training has a large focus on safety procedures and practical scenarios relevant to the National Occupational Health & Safety Certification Standards.

  • Developing preliminary lifting plans
  • Selecting and inspecting equipment.
  • Preparing lifting equipment
  • Preparing anchors
  • Connecting load to lifting equipment
  • Lifting and fleeting loads
  • Landing the load
  • Dismantling lifting equipment
  • Storing load shifting equipment

 

Participants will need to:

  • Wear comfortable clothing & enclosed footwear, PPE will be required to be worn for the practical training, we have hard hats and hi-visibility vests available for use if required.

  • Bring your own lunch, There will be a scheduled lunch break during the course, you are welcome to leave the facility to purchase food if you wish, there are a number of food outlets in the area. Free water, tea, coffee & biscuits are provided.

  • Remember to bring your photo identification with you to the training as stated in the prerequisites for the course

  • inform us upon registration If you feel you have any literacy or numeracy difficulties. Some reasonable adjustments to the course can be made to assist

 

Prerequisites

To undertake this course participants will need:

  • To be a minimum of 18 years of age

  • (USI)-Unique Student Identifier

  • To demonstrate the ability to speak and write English to a basic level & have basic numeracy skills

  • Photo identification (drivers licence, passport or proof of age card)
