Confined Space Awareness for Supervisors and Managers (Face to face)

This course is intended for any manager or supervisor who is required to control confined space activities and specifically required to issue permit to work in confined spaces as part of their work role. This is a 1 day course and delivered in a face to face environment.

Introduction

• This is a theoretical and practical training course which is suitable for all persons required to control confined space activities

Subject modules

• Confined space legislation & recognition of statutory confined spaces

• Overview of the EU Skills national operating standard

• Use of the confined space pre-entry assessment form

• Development & use of the risk assessment, safe system of work & rescue plan

• Use of the confined space permit to work

• Maintenance of internal & external documents necessary for confined space working

• Overview of the role of the entrant, safety attendant, supervisor, rescuer

• Overview of typical confined space equipment

• Desktop exercise for planning of an entry, completion of risk assessment, SSW, rescue plan & CS permit to work

Assessment method

• Assessment will be carried out via online written exam at the end of each module PLUS the completion of scenario based exercise which will be submitted and assessed remotely post training
