Course Details

Introduction:

Harness offers a one-day Confined Space Course in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Papua New Guinea. This course covers competencies required to safely enter and work with a confined space ticket.

You will be trained to successfully monitor the atmosphere for gas. Working in accordance with a confined space entry permit system. It provides individuals with the skills to successfully and safely undertake work in this industry.

The assessment for this confined space entry course has been designed to assess the individual to the Australian Qualification Framework. The relevant Confined Space Training program meets Australian and Industry expectations, as well as Commonwealth and State Legislation.

In the delivery of this confined space entry certification, our trainers focus on providing an individual adult learning environment. One that considers the learner’s employment history and experience in the industry.

Why do you need confined space entry training?

When employees undertake confined space work, they are entering an environment that is not intended for human occupancy. Workers are exposed to a much greater volume of risks in this dangerous atmosphere.

Examples of confined space can include tanks, vats, silos, bins, and vaults. There are also a number of less obvious, but no less dangerous spaces. This includes open-top tanks and vats, close and unventilated rooms. In many of these spaces, heavier than air gas can be present and restrict air circulation.

Learning Methods:

The mode of delivery for this course is face to face in a classroom as well as significant practical elements outside of the classroom.

For students to successfully gain their ticket, our trainers focus on providing an individual adult learning experience. It is an environment that considers the learner's employment history and experience in the industry.

Theory is presented in a supportive learner centered environment. The training is designed to provide functional theoretical knowledge that is directly applicable to real world tasks.

Learning materials provided include the Harness student handbook. Participants will be advised in advance of attending the course if there are any materials to be provided by them.

Course Content

The course ensures that all participants leave with the skills they need to safely work in confined spaces. At all of our training facilities, participants will learn the correct best practice procedures essential to undertaking confined space work.

While based on Australian Standard AS 2865, the courses at Harness go beyond what is required. With our experienced trainers, we can help workers and organisations meet their needs by offering comprehensive learning solutions.

Confined Space Entry training - Risk Assessment:

All Confined Space Courses in QLD and PNG begin with risk assessment. The confined space course for workers teaches how to account for work being done. It considers the range of safe entry methods available aligned with the OSHA Confined Space Training recommendations. Additionally, students will be prepared for the hazards and risks involved with rescue and emergency procedures.

Monitoring & Securing Confined Space Atmospheres:

Alongside risk assessment, our confined space gas testing training teaches participants what's needed to monitor and secure a confined space atmosphere.

The curriculum to obtain the confined space entry certificate includes:

  • analysis of atmospheric contaminants

  • confirmation of the levels of oxygen

  • forced ventilation and the displacement of contaminated air

Using Safety Equipment:

The confined space training course also involves the proper use of safety equipment. To undertake confined space rescue safely requires a number of instruments. From gas and air poisoning detection tools to respirators, best practice use of equipment is essential to health and safety.

Why should I undertake the Confined Space Permit Certificate with Harness?

Harness has years' worth of health and safety experience stemming from the oil and gas sector. Unlike other confined space training certificate providers, our processes are honed in one of the most dangerous and highly regulated sectors.

On the completion of the CSE course, participants will receive a qualification that is applicable across a number of industries. It is viewed as a benchmark in competence for any person who undertakes work in limited or restricted spaces.

We ensure that our students have theoretical understanding and practical experience to undertake work from a confined space. To accomplish that, our confined space entry training program utilises state-of-the-art technology to mimic the real conditions.

We believe in bringing a new and improved dimension to confined space entry safety by testing the limits of participants' ability. The only way to do this is through practical exercises in a simulated environment. Through our simulators, we can add smoke and other stress factors to test their behavioural responses.

With our tailored curriculum, dedicated trainers and cutting edge facilities, we focus on constantly delivering effective learning outcomes. This continued focus ensures that we lead the industry in confined space training from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast.
