This course covers the competency associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. The course participants will also learn the necessary skills to undertake rescue in confined spaces.
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake rescues in confined spaces as a member of a single organisation or team involving multiple organisations.
This includes a wide range of rescue and environmental situations which may incorporate industrial, rural, bush and extreme environmental conditions. Participants will also gain the competency to participate in rescue operations as a member of a rescue team along with the competency to provide emergency care pending the arrival of appropriately qualified personnel.
The unit applies to personnel required to detect and identify contaminants at a hazardous materials incident using specialist equipment to identify the materials, assess risks posed by the materials identified and to formulate a plan for their safe isolation and mitigation
The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.
While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of competency is assessed as a discrete unit.
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
