Confined space training outlines the skills and protocols for safe entry to confined spaces which includes hazards, risks and precautions. Confined spaces comprise of pits, tanks, pit, well, sewer, tunnel, pipe, boiler, silo, etc. Confined space hazards can be divided into four broad and far reaching categories.

These categories are Configuration, Biological, Physical and Atmospheric. It is important to understand each of these groupings as they are often used in the classification of specific confined spaces hazards at a worksite. Confined spaces include, but are not limited to, tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, equipment housings, ductwork, pipelines, etc.
