This entry level confined space training in addition to the complementary gas test atmospheres training course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to enter when working in confined spaces and test the working atmosphere.
This entry level confined space training in addition to the complementary gas test atmospheres training course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to enter when working in confined spaces and test the working atmosphere.
The confined space course takes participants through the process that will give valuable knowledge regarding the common safety practices. Courses are conducted at our training facility at Stapylton, Yatala North exit off the M1 halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Confined Space Course Overview
Our confined space training course will run the participants through such areas as planning to work in a confined space, preparing to work in a confined space, working in a confined space, exiting from a confined space and cleaning up once the task has been completed.
We run the confined space training program in Stapylton (M1 Yatala North exit) where the Gold Coast meets Brisbane or Onsite.
The confined space training really goes hand in hand with the gas test atmospheres unit of competency, where you'll gain the skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work
The skills and knowledge that you obtain during the Confined Space Training course is suitable for working in confined spaces across a wide range of industries including the Resources Sector, Quarrying, Drilling, Agriculture, Councils/Government, Defence, Manufacturing, Heavy Industry, Defence and Civil Construction industries.
Please note that confined space and working at heights work often go together. If you're interested in Working Safely at Heights training
Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries. It applies to those working in operational roles.
They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.
Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.
Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace.
In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work.
It applies to situations where an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace. The competency requires the person to interpret readings and take actions based on the interpretation.
Working environment may be hazardous, unpredictable, subject to time pressure, chaotic and expose responders to risk, on land or water, by day or night. Workplace atmospheres may include visible and invisible hazards and hazardous surfaces.
The unit is suitable for use in the following situations:
Confined spaces
Enclosed and partially enclosed spaces
Hot work
Storage tanks, silos, pits, pipes, shafts, ducts, transport vehicles and ships
Testing as part of issuing a work permit
Monitoring as part of working under a work permit
Open areas
Holding the gas tester by hand
Lowering the gas tester into a space, e.g. on a line
This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with other shift team members and the control room operator, as appropriate.

High Risk Work Licence Training Centre
We specialise in high risk work licenced and accredited training, with our training yard at Stapylton where the Gold Coast meets Brisbane near the M1. CSQ funding provider.
Courses include: Mobile & Tower Crane Operating | Dogging & Rigging | Scaffolding | Excavator, Skid Steer, Roller | EWP, Hoist, Forklift, Telehandler | Confined Space, Working at Heights & More
The Forklift Licence course is conducted over three (3) days for a regular course, or two (2) days for our advanced experienced operators course. Forklift Training is conducted at our Newcastle premises (MAP) - or if required our trainers can travel to site for on-site training.
The transport and construction industry encompass many activities which includes operating a forklift truck. The forklift truck course provides all the knowledge and skills necessary to satisfy the requirements of the qualification
Our Crane inspection awareness training course runs over a full day here at our facilities in Osborne Park or on-site with you. We have a highly trained and qualified trainer with over 30 years’ experience in crane operations, maintenance, and repairs.
Boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.
This gas test atmospheres program covers the skills and knowledge required to test and monitor working atmospheres to determine whether they are suitable for the proposed work using electronic testing apparatus (gas detectors).
