ConstructSafe is the solution to assessing Health & Safety competency within the construction industry in New Zealand. The ConstructSafe framework identifies the everyday tasks, the risks they involve and the controls for each.
In the same way that a drivers licence proves the competency of a driver, ConstructSafe proves the health and safety competency of our workforce.
It provides assurance that every worker onsite understands the same things, in order to carry out their jobs safely. Questions are either ‘multi-choice’ or ‘point and click’ and have audio to eliminate language barriers. Assessments are conducted in accredited test centres by accredited testing supervisors.
The assessment begins with a mandatory section of 10 questions which focuses on the minimum required knowledge of construction health and safety:

This basic course is designed for students to understand and demonstrate safe work practices. People completing this course are able to identify the principles of workplace safety in a given workplace and demonstrate safe work practices in a specific workplace.

This course provides students with knowledge of basic work- place safety, an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and the skills needed to then apply key princi- ples in the workplace. It will also provide an overview on the responsibilities of people in the workforce.
Constructsafe are a nationally recognised H&S competency scheme who are aiming to create a more competent workforce and in turn drive a more efficient industry. This is an assessment for everybody in the NZ building and construction industry.
