Course Details

If you're working in the construction industry, your workplace will be classed as high-risk. Therefore, you will need a 3-Day First Aid at Work certificate. Our 3-Day construction first aid course is FAIB Accredited and fully recognised by the HSE.

Modules breakdown

The course will also educate employees on how to handle a wide range of specific work-related situations, as well as teaching them cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and babies. Over the course of the three days, they will be taught how to deal with:

  • CPR & AED (defibrillator)

  • Heart attacks and angina

  • Minor cuts, grazes, splinters, and burns

  • Asthma

  • Choking

  • Unconscious colleagues

  • Shock

  • Sudden poisoning

  • Wounds and bleeding

  • Eye injuries

  • Diabetes

  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints

  • Asthma

  • Spine, head, neck injuries

  • Fractures

  • Chest injuries

  • Strokes

  • Workers, accident, response

Construction FAW exams and assessment

During the three-day first aid at work course, students will be evaluated by the instructor as well as in a final exam. The FAIB will accredit the successful candidates with a FAW qualification.

Entry requirements

There are no requirements for this construction first aid course.

However, learners must be physically able to carry out the procedures required to meet HSE assessment criteria.

Course overview

This course complies with Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 and updates learners of any change in practice and guidelines.

The Construction FAW training syllabus covers some important general & building site first aid topics, including:

  • What are the roles and responsibilities of the first aider?

  • How should incidents be recorded and reported using a reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations (riddor) form?

  • What should a first aid kit contain?

  • In a first aid emergency, how should you assess the situation and respond?
