Aim Of This Course / Target Group

Since 2009 the construction industry induction in WA has been based on a nationally recognised training unit of competence. Under amended regulations, in States and Territories, both types of WA cards issued through training providers will be accepted by the regulatory authority as evidence that construction induction training has been successfully completed.

Those people who have completed the previous ‘bluecard’ Course in Safety Awareness Training will not have to repeat the training. This course is suitable for any individual wishing to work in the WA construction industry.

Recognition of Interstate cards issued prior to August 2009

  • Queensland ‘blue’ and ‘white cards’ are recognised in WA.
  • NSW 'green cards' are no longer valid in NSW and are not recognised in WA.
  • Victorian ‘red cards' are not recognised in WA

The course is suitable for all employees.

 

Course Content

As a result of attending this program participants will have knowledge of:

  • Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Law in Australia & Western Australia
  • Duty of Care Requirements – All Parties
  • Safety and Health Representatives and Committees
  • Resolution of Workplace Issues
  • The Right to Refuse Work
  • Applying Workplace Policies and Procedures

Reporting and Documentation Requirements

 

Assessment Methods

  • Knowledge based questionnaires and practical demonstration.
  • This course is only available as group training on request and not run publicly.

 

Pre Requisities

Must have basic English literacy skills

 

Academic Award & Recoginations

Upon successful completion candidates will be issued with Worksafe WA (Whitecard) accreditation and a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

 

What To Wear

All course participants are required to wear appropriate work attire. Whilst closed in shoes are a minimum requirement for attendance on any course, steel capped safety boots are required for forklift, dogging, vehicle loading crane (hiab) and rigging courses.

Feel free to grab a tea, coffee or snack before the course starts and during the course breaks. All participants will be offered morning/ afternoon tea.
