A construction safety officer ensures that construction workers are following established policies and safety regulations. A construction safety officer may take on additional roles and responsibilities, but their primary job is helping to create safer work sites. They develop, implement and enforce policies that reduce the risk of accidents. The safety officer determines what policies are needed and how to enforce them.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Construction Safety Officer certificate. This will allow them to apply for ASTTBC certification as a CSO and gain experience on a construction site.

This pipeline construction safety course has been designed as an orientation for those with an occupational requirement to safely undertake pipeline construction work activities and is also intended for personnel who are required to supervise pipeline construction operations.

The Construction Safety Officer training program is delivered in partnership with Safety Central. This program will train students to ensure workers are following established policies and safety regulations of a job site.Â
The WHMIS in Construction 2015 training is an in-class program that provides a generic overview of WHMIS (employers must provide additional WHMIS training tailored to the specific material workers may encounter on each work site).
All firms with 20 or more employees require a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) comprised of members who are certified through Ministry of Labour-approved training.
