Course Details

This unit describes the requirements for Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) induction training prior to commencing construction work. Participants demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of WHS requirements to work safely and prevent injury to self and others.

 

Course Content:

  • Recognise and assess an emergency
  • Ensure safety for self, bystanders, and casualty
  • Seek assistance from emergency services
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Manage the casualty in a respectful manner
  • Obtain consent from casualty where possible
  • use available resources and equipment to make the casualty comfortable
  • Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions
  • Monitor condition of casualty and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
  • Report details of incidents in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures
  • Complete applicable workplace or site documentation, and incident report form
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and others and seek help
  • Contribute to a review of the first aid response as require

  • White Card
    • CPCWHS1001 Prepare To Work Safely In The Construction Industry is commonly referred to as a White Card and is a required when working on constructions sites in Australia.
    • Whilst many people think only construction workers require a White card other trades will be required to have if they want to be allowed onsite. These included delivery drivers, security guards, surveyors, architects as just some of the industries that will also require a white card to enter a site.
