Corporate Defensive Driving

The objective of this course is for students to learn the theoretical aspects of driving safely on NZ roads, protecting people, company profits and assets; being able to apply risk reduction techniques and strategies while driving.

Course Content

The course focuses on:

• Describe driving hazards.
• Describe risk reduction techniques for dealing with driving hazards.
• Describe the use of crash risk reduction strategies while driving.
• Understand driving risks and hazards.
• Understand dangers of speed effects, tiredness.
• Understand how environmental conditions impact safe driving.
• Know how to implement safe, economic and efficient driving patterns.
• Be able to practically apply all theories.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Describe driving hazards; and the use of crash risk reduction strategies while driving.
• Apply risk reduction techniques and strategies while driving.

Course structure

The course is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Students are assessed continuously during the course.
