This is a workshop based safety awareness session designed for personnel who will be responsible for overseeing crane operations on their site or who may be working alongside an Appointed Person during a lifting operation.

(Please note this is neither an Appointed Person nor a lift supervisor qualification) But will be suitable as refresher training prior to re-qualifing of these courses.

Categories: 

There are no categories but as well as covering the generic standards for lifting and slinging, the course can be tailored to cover the specific use of lifting equipment and their environment such as:

Using tower / mobile cranes, Using overhead cranes, Using chain blocks (Fleeting / Rigging)

 

Course Content

  • Understand the hazards involved in lifting operations and the control measures in place to eliminate or reduce risk to an acceptable level.
  • Understand the legal requirements and general guidance involved in lifting operations.
  • Identify the relevant documentation that should be in place to comply with legal requirements.
  • What checks should be made to the lifting equipment to ensure safety & stability
  • What checks should be made to the working environment to ensure safety & stability
  • What procedures should be adopted when carrying out any specialist applications (Lifting personnel, near overhead cables etc).

Assessment: 

As this is a workshop there is no formal assessment but students will be expected to participate in any discussions or practical activities.
