Course Details

A hoist operator is in charge of operating and monitoring stationary and mobile cranes. This involves raising and lowering jibs and booms to lift, move and position equipment, people and materials in areas such as building sites, mines and shipyards.

This crane operator course will focus on equipment like ski-lifts, cranes with dredging attachments, hoists and mounted cranes.

(Unit Standard: 116254 – NQF Level: 2 – Credits: 20) – operate a mobile crane

This course is designed around four modules covering topics like managing the scene of an emergency, the basic human anatomy and physiology as well as the primary and secondary survey.
