Course Details

Safety Training & Consulting offers the 8-hour Mobile Crane – Less Than 18 Tons course for both experienced and inexperienced operators. The 4-hour academic portion covers the responsibilities of the operator and the numerous hazards associated with crane operation.

Students are required to perform exercises with the equipment prior to their practical evaluation.

 

The classroom portion is designed to cover the OSHA standard CFR 29 180 and CFR 1926.550 and 1926 Subpart P for Mobile Cranes and includes:

  • Hazards of Mobile Cranes
  • Operator Responsibilities
  • Workplace Hazards
  • Safe Operation
  • Inspection
  • Load Charts and Load Capacities
  • Different Types of Mobile Cranes
  • Written Test

 

The practical exercises include:

  • Pre-operational Inspection of the Mobile Crane
  • Practical Evaluation in which Each Employee Operates the Mobile Crane through a Pre-designed
  • Evaluation of Training (Examples: peers, instructor, coaches, etc.)
