The aim of the programme is to give you the skills needed to submit industry standard work, in whatever medium you most enjoy and connect with. This could be poetry, short stories, essays, full length fiction...the choices are huge and exciting.
The course tutor has worked in the creative industry for almost two decades. During this time he has played a key role in reading theatre, TV and film submissions for leading agencies, while also working as an independent editor. His experience is enormous, and he truly understands what it takes to write and submit a successful piece of creative writing.
The course will help students to understand:
• The basics of writing short stories and long form fiction;
• The structure and shape of narrative writing;
• How to create compelling characters and locations;
• How to adopt a critical and constructive approach to their work;
• How to write for mediums other than prose;
• What they can do with their finished work when the course is completed.

This course is suitable for beginners and for those with some writing experience who want to study creative writing for leisure. Previous learners will be given the opportunity to stretch their writing skills, while people new to creative writing classes will be gently brought up to speed.
