On this 4 week course you will learn how to write a story with an intriguing beginning, a focused middle and a satisfying end.

• How to hook a reader and keep the beginning moving into the meat of the story

  • Characters and how to make them change and develop as the story progresses

  • How to keep your story on track

  • Endings – how to deliver on a promise and create a satisfying ending

  • How to end your story with atmosphere and tone.

The minimum standard of English required is equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (previously C), level 2.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• Pen/pencil and notebook. Surrey Adult Learning asks all learners to use and maintain a notebook to document their learning and to bring it to each session

  • You may also bring a laptop or tablet.

  • There is no need for further equipment although access to a computer and the internet for writing and sending homework is useful but not essential.

What can I do when I finish the course?

You will be able to move on to other Creative Writing courses within SAL.
