Cuban Style Salsa as theme suggests was born in Cuba and has its roots in West Africa as a result of the slave trade. As the slaves were not allowed to take their drums when they were taken across the ocean, they created a new rhythm tool known as the clave and respecting the clave rhythms is the key to dancing salsa!
Salsa means sauce or mix and a dance mix of other dance styles with the mother of Salsa being Son, and the Afro Cuban movements of expression are from the Orishas (deities) from the Yoruban tribe in Nigeria, and Palo from Congo.
It is a great workout and full of fun surprises as you will learn to dance suelta (solo), casino (in couple) and in rueda (wheel - dancing in a circle with a group of other couples).
