As the skills gap increases, businesses like yours have a significant role to play in ensuring a sustainable pipeline of IT talent into the workforce.
The annual cohort of university graduates is not enough to meet this demand. At the same time, the ever-expanding threat of cyber-attacks to individuals, businesses and governments requires a new profile of skills.
With these considerations in mind, MEGT – in conjunction with Microsoft Australia, TAFE, Prodigy Learning and AustCyber – has developed the two-year Cyber Security Microsoft Traineeship Program. This program is currently available in ACT and NSW.
One day per week, trainees will undertake a Certificate IV in Cyber Security and the latest Microsoft and ITS certifications. On the other four days, their Host Employer will direct them in their duties in an educative, safe and healthy environment.
MEGT will be their legal employer, responsible for their onboarding, administrative functions and mentoring.
Once the trainee has completed the program, Host Employers have the option to retain them as a permanent employee, with no transfer fees.
Why become a Host Employer?
Joining the program as a Host Employer will allow you access to diverse and cost-effective talent that can scale with you. The greatly reduced risk to your enterprise will give you the freedom to focus on your business goals.
While your trainee comes to understand your business, they’ll feed their developing, up-to-the-minute skills back into it. If the trainee you’re matched with is not a good fit, you can exchange them for one who better suits your needs.
MEGT will offer ongoing support for the life of the program via:
Training coordination and progress visits: We’ll work with you to arrange and monitor training and provide regular progress reports and assessments to keep your trainee on track to successfully completing their qualification
Work Health and Safety: We’re committed to workplace health and safety and, if required, will assist you with WorkCover administration, injury management, Return to Work processes, and workplace safety assessments. Trainees and their family members also have access to our free Employee Assistance Program
Payroll and leave: We’ll process and pay your trainee’s wages, ensuring we are compliant with all Australian awards or Enterprise Agreement rates, as well as superannuation and tax requirements. We’re also here to assist with managing absence from work and leave requirements
Performance management: We’ll work with you to take care of any performance management or disciplinary actions that may arise
Mentoring and coaching: Your trainee will be matched with a dedicated field officer who will visit them every eight weeks to assists with any work, training or home-based challenges, and help to ensure they successfully complete their training and remain a valuable addition to your team
