The Master of Science in Data Science program provides a strong foundation in the emerging area of data science, with foci on data management and accountability, visualization and communication, and computational, algorithmic and applied processing techniques.
Students gain competency in fundamental methods and techniques for data collection, management, analysis, and result interpretation.
Their fundamental understanding and skills will be applied to real world data analysis tasks, through state-of-the-art technologies, tools and platforms. This degree is designed for students with no prior background in data science.
Curriculum emphasizes data science concepts in four concentrated areas: 1) Analytics; 2) Algorithms; 3) Visualization and Communication; and 4) Management and Accountability.
Students also have the option to pursue a dual degree program combining the MS in Data Science with any other CCI graduate program.
The University of Portland is a thriving community of more than 3,500 undergraduate students, who come from around the nation and the world, as well as over 1,000 faculty and staff. The University is located up on a bluff in a residential neighborhood overlooking the Willamette River and the city of Portland.
