Course Details

The Dental Assistant Level I & II diploma program is both comprehensive and intensive. Upon graduation, the student will possess the knowledge and skills to participate fully in the dental office through a broad range of clinical and laboratory skills.

In their assisting role with a dentist, Dental Assistants may prepare the treatment rooms, prepare dental materials, assist with the suction apparatus, transfer dental instruments, expose and process radiographic images as well as disinfect and sterilize.

The Dental Assistant, also known as the Intra Oral Dental Assistant (Level II), will work both independently and as a valued member of the dental team. Our Dental Assistant Level I & II program will prepare the student to perform direct patient care under the direction of the dentist.

This program can also be taken via. Distance delivery with online, remote theory and occasional in-person visits to our Ottawa campus where our instructors will test and evaluate your hands-on skills.

Admissions Requirements

Canadian High School diploma or equivalent. Willis College Admission’s Team uses the Wonderlic assessment tool.

If you don’t have a High School Diploma, we have admissions options specifically for you depending on which province you are in enrolling. Please contact us to see how our Admissions Team can help you achieve your new career.

*Mature student is defined as 19 years or older.

Note: Students with foreign credentials, regardless of whether their documents have been translated/compared or not, should be tested to establish literacy in the English language.

In addition to the above, students will be required to make sure they have an Immunization Form signed by a doctor including TB 1&2, obtain their Police clearance of criminal record including vulnerable sector search, and obtain their CPR & First Aid – Level C.
