CDI College's Dental Assisting program, approved by the Ontario Dental Assistants' Association, provides comprehensive training for Intra-Oral Levels I and II, preparing you for employment in modern dental practices.
Upon completion, graduates are eligible to write the NDAEB Exam for ODAA certification.
440 Hours Of Practical Experience Included
Complete two real-world practicum placements totalling 440 hours to test your new knowledge. Upon graduation, you'll have the skills to succeed in various dental environments and assisting roles.
Experienced Instructors
Our experienced instructors have a demonstrated ability to teach adult learners and have two or more years of full-time experience.
Hands-on Dental Training
In the Intra-Oral Level I training, you learn how to handle clerical tasks in a dental office and how to prepare and use various tools and materials during dental treatments.
In the Intra-Oral Level II training, you will learn how to take digital radiographs, how to polish teeth, how to apply topical fluoride, and how to install and remove dental dams, among others.

Orientation to Dental Assisting Program
Orientation to Dentistry
This section will discuss the professionalism and legalities of all members of the dental team. It will enable students to understand the expectations of the profession and the workplace.
Oral Facial Sciences
Students are provided with an understanding of normal anatomy and physiology beginning with an introduction to the human body and its functions.Students will learn detailed anatomy of the head, neck, and will examine the normal development of the oral cavity and facial complex, teeth, and the attachment unit.
Dental Materials
This area of study provides students with the fundamental knowledge of the bio-materials commonly used in the dental environment. Lectures will cover the physical and manipulative characteristics of the various dental products.
The laboratory segment prepares students to correctly manipulate these diverse materials.
Environmental Health And Safety - WHMIS
This course also introduces students to the proper handling of hazardous chemicals, employee safety, and waste management. In addition, students will learn how to avoid Musculoskeletal disorders commonly associated with dental assisting.
Clinical Dentistry
Students will be introduced to a wide variety of instruments and procedures used in dentistry. This component will assist students in developing the skills and recognizing the importance of smooth interaction with the dentist providing quality care while working chairside for various procedures.
Students will learn the theory and practical elements of restorative dentistry. Emphasis is placed on the dental assistant’s role in operative procedures. It includes chairside assisting, as well as the implementation of the dental materials used in dentistry.
The CDI Winnipeg campus is available to everyone in the area looking to further their education or upgrade their skills. Choose from programs in business, healthcare, and technology.
The campus is found in the heart of Winnipeg, and is close to shopping, green space, and the Red River. Students in the city will have access to a wide range of entertainment from productions of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to local sports team
This course will teach you the myofunctional evaluation system, which identifies breathing and myofunctional problems limiting facial growth and causing malocclusion, as well as provide you with the ability to treat myofunctional problems evident in almost every child.
