Course Details

This half day course is designed to give Managers and Employees a full understanding of all types of disabilities and the actions to take to assist those persons with a disability to evacuate from a building in the event of a fire alarm or fire. We will cover the PEEPs form and demonstrate the use of the Evacuation Chair.

 

Aims:

This ½ day course aims to provide information to those responsible for dealing with persons who have a disability in the workplace or those visiting a workplace.

 

Objectives:

Explain the ineffectiveness of some of the conventional means of escape measures for persons who have problems with their mobility, vision, hearing and/or those with learning difficulties or mental health problems

 

Presentation:

  • Legal reasons in relation to persons with a disability at the workplace
  • Moral reasons for dealing with persons with a disability
  • PEEP’s (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan)

 

Types of disability including:

  • Sensory impairments, such as hearing or sight
  • Impairments that fluctuate or recur
  • Progressive impairments
  • Organ specific conditions
  • Developmental disorders
  • learning disabilities
  • Mental health conditions
