Draping 1: Learn the fundamentals of draping as a method of designing garments and a patternmaking alternative. Work on a professional dress form to create bodices, skirts, and dresses. Transfer the drape to a paper pattern. Pre-req: Patternmaking Intro.
Draping 2: Expand on techniques learned in Draping I. Learn to drape asymmetrical designs, bias and cowl necklines and knit fabric. Create your own designs. Prereq: Draping 1.

In this class we will discuss the value and purpose for various types of increases and decreases. We’ll create simple squares that allow you to repeat the stitch often enough to put it in your memory.

Students will learn to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and weave in ends. Time will also be spent on trouble-shooting, basic pattern reading, and choosing the right tools and yarn for a given project.Â
