We have developed a dynamic new curriculum which mirrors the priority growth areas identified for Northern Ireland as this is where future jobs will be created. Through our partnerships with industry, we constantly adapt our curriculum to meet the skill demands of our economy.
We provide a unique breadth of education and training at every level and have designed a portfolio of courses to address a variety of skill needs – from apprenticeship and Level 1 courses, to those undertaking degrees and post-graduate study.
Coupled with this is our commitment to ensuring that our students have access to opportunities which will enhance their employability and job-ready skills.
Our focus for the future is to support the development of Belfast by providing education, training and skills development to enhance individual, community and economic prosperity.
Over the next three years we will sustain and improve our responsiveness to learners, employers and communities. The College has already built an excellent reputation with employers for offering relevant, high quality learning.
We will build on this by focusing on developing long-term mutually beneficial partnerships and becoming recognised as an expert in key and emerging growth areas.
Working in partnership, we will increase participation, progression, attainment and skill levels of all our students.
The Summer School Beginners intensive sewing course for adults will teach you all the foundation skills to launch you into the world of sewing. It is a good starting point to learn expert sewing techniques whether you want to progress into dressmaking, soft furnishing or craft projects.
Making your own clothes is about learning to be yourself. Choose your own fabric; fit it to your own unique body; express your own unique style. If you're tired of wearing low quality, ill-fitting and generic hi-street clothing, then this course is your opportunity to break from the herd.
Are you guilty of sticking pins and needles in the arm of your chair? Do you lose bits and bobs down the side of your cushions? Do your scissors disappear under your legs? Making this small but very practical armchair caddy and clamshell case can solve this.
Sewing classes are offered by Fabric Focus for all ages and skill level. You will only ever be served by people who, like you, are dress-makers and quilters. Our advice is backed by practical experience of fabric and its ways. We believe this makes us fairly rare in the fabric business.
We can chat through how classes work and what projects you will sew. Once you are ready to start, we’ll check availability and book you in to your first machine sewing class! Classes run Wednesdays to Fridays with limited space on Saturdays.
