DurationMaking your own clothes is extremely satisfying. You can obtain a perfect fit and have something completely unique, But it’s difficult knowing where to start. Commercial paper pattern sizes bear no relation to shop-bought, and all those fabrics to choose from? If you’d like to learn to make your own clothes, but are struggling to get started, then this short course will give you a great foundation. Or if you’ve already done some dressmaking, then learn tips and techniques to help you improve the finish.
How to use commercial paper patterns and learn garment-construction techniques.
Depending on your skill level and the complexity of the pattern you have chosen, there will be time to make at least 1 garment but you may be able to make more. There will be some structured tutorials over the 3 days with plenty practical time.

Why not come along a make a dress in a day with our dressmaking tutor Kate. We have patterns you will be able to use but need to bring please 22' inch zip, 1.3m of fabric if fabric 150cm wide,2.3m if fabric 115cm wide , matching thread, fabrics could be a light weight denim, medium weight cotton.
In this 3 hour workshop you will be taught how to set up a sewing machine ready for free-machine embroidery, have a go at doodling with the machine and then design and make your own framed textile picture to take home. Cost includes all tuition, materials & equipment & tea/coffee.
